Customized health supplements prepared directly by Miso Dream Oriental Medicine Clinic

When you feel weak, easily tired, and slow to recover from an illness, many people naturally think of a tonic. It is **Sipjeondaebo-tang (十全大補湯)**, which has been loved for a long time in traditional Oriental medicine. As the name suggests, it is a "complete tonic" that combines ten different medicinal herbs to simultaneously nourish the body's energy and blood.

What is Sipjeondaebotang?

Sipjeondaebotang is a prescription based on Samultang and Sagunjatang. Samultang is a representative prescription for blood, and Sagunjatang is a representative prescription for energy. **Hwanggi (黃芪)** and **Gyeji (桂枝)** are added to help  evenly circulate energy and blood throughout the body, and promote metabolism.

The main ingredients are as follows:

  • Ginseng, Angelica, Poria, and Licorice: Enhance energy and support digestive function.
  • Rehmannia glutinosa, angelica root, white peony root, and cnidium officinalis: Nourish the blood and help blood circulation.
  • Astragalus: Regulates sweat and strengthens skin defense functions.
  • Keji: Warms the body and helps blood flow smoothly.

Because it is a prescription that strengthens both qi and blood, it is widely used beyond a simple fatigue recovery agent, such as for strengthening the immune system, recovering from general weakness, replenishing stamina after surgery, and menopausal care.

Who is it good for?

Sipjeondaebotang is recommended for those who are weak and easily tired, those who need to recover their energy after illness or surgery, and those who tend to have a cold body and weak immunity. It is also effective for women with irregular menstruation, postpartum recovery, and cold symptoms, and for the elderly, it can help with loss of energy and improve complexion.

However, as with all health supplements, Sipjeondaebo-tang is not necessarily suitable for everyone. Those with a hot constitution or inflammatory diseases may need to adjust the prescription, and those with weak digestive systems in particular, need to make the decoction softer or add auxiliary herbs, which is important for customized preparation.

Sipjeondaebo-tang from Miso Dream Oriental Medicine Clinic

At Miso Dream Oriental Medicine Clinic, we personally prepare Sipjeondaebo-tang based on the patient’s constitution and condition. For example, for those with a weak Qi, we increase the amount of Astragali, and for those with a lack
of blood, we supplement more Rehmannia glutinosa and Angelica gigas. For those with a hot constitution, we balance the herbal medicine by adding some heat-reducing herbs, and we base our preparation on patient-tailored herbal medicine.

In addition, the carefully prepared herbal medicine is provided in a hygienic pouch form, making it easy to take and helping you take your medicine regularly, even in your busy daily life.

Things to check before taking

Sipjeondaebotang are generally safe, but if taken without a diagnosis from an
Oriental medicine doctor, or taken in a way that does not suit your constitution, symptoms such as indigestion and fever may occur. Therefore, it is essential to take it after a diagnosis based on your symptoms and constitution.

In conclusion

Sipjeondaebotang is not just a simple 'energy supplement'  but a famous prescription that contains traditional wisdom that evenly controls qi and blood to restore the balance of the entire body. This tonic, which is still effective for us living in the modern era, can be said to be a precious legacy of oriental medicine that especially supports tired bodies and minds during seasonal changes.

At Miso Dream Oriental Medicine Clinic, we carefully prepare Sipjeondaebo-tang that is tailored to your constitution and symptoms, and help you recover your healthy daily life. In times when you are worried about fatigue and a weakened immune system, we hope that you will regain your vitality with a bowl of warm herbal medicine.
